A Gamelan is an Indonesian percussion orchestra made of wood and bronze, this particular one is from Java, specifically, Surakarta.
There are over 30 gongs of different shapes and sizes; xylophones; metallophones (like a xylophone but made of bronze); several drums; as well as bamboo flutes, fiddles, singing and clapping.
Because of the way the music and instruments are structured, it is a fantastic learning resource. The Gamelan can hold players of all abilities, all the way from folks who have never played music before to experienced musicians.
